Biography

Jackeline Acheampong (born December 16, 1998) is a professional Ghanaian Singer and songwriter best recognized by her stage name, Gyakie. She is a famous AfroFusion Artist who hails originally from Abuakwa. 

Gyakie is a fast-growing Ghanaian artist who came into the spotlight after the release of her debut single, “Never like this.” Gyakie is an AfroFusion artist with a sonorous voice.

Early Life

The 24 years old Ghanaian star grew up with her parent in Kumasi, Ghana and had the opportunity of listening to good music while growing up. Gyakie comes from a family with a lot of passion and love for good music. Her father was a legendary Ghanaian artist with the moniker Ernest Owoahene Nana Acheampong and a member of the popular band The Lumber brothers.

It was evident and perceptible to the family and everyone that Gyakie would eventually take after her father when it came to music. Her talent started displaying itself right when she was a kid. 

As she grew older, she joined the church choir and became the lead vocalist with her canorous voice.  

Education

Gyakie completed her primary and secondary education in T. I went to Ahmadiyya high school and graduated with a degree in International Business from Kwame Nkrumah University Of Science and Technology (KNUST). 

Career

Gyakie developed an interest in music when she was a kid and started engaging with her father in the studio at the age of Eight. She was majorly by Asa, Burna Boy, and some Ghanaian artists. Her musical life fully emerged while she was at the university. However, she freestyles in school and performs at events. She released her first studio song, “Love is pretty,” in February 2019. The song went well and garnered her some fanbase. She released another single, “Never like this,” which gave her a brake light in the industry. She became a national star all over. Her music was played on both radio and TV and was available on every music platform.

In August 2020, Gyakie released her debut EP with five-track. The project She titled “SEED” paved an opportunity for her to perform in top places. 

‘Forever’ off the project enjoyed massive airplay and got a lot of streams online, and it became a hit song in Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and some other African countries. It topped the billboard and got massive streams on some music platforms like Audiomack, Apple Music, Shazam, YouTube, and more.

She has worked with some prominent, influential artists in Nigeria and Ghana and is still looking forward to working with a more international and global artist.

She made a remix of “Forever” with a Nigerian singer, Omah Lay.  She got millions of streams and views on YouTube and still counting. 

Personal Life

The 23 years Ghanaian superstar currently resides in a lovely apartment in Accra with a nice car. 

She is presently single and hasn’t shown off any guy yet. Gyakie travels a lot for shows. 

Nigeria is one of her most visited countries, and she hopes to collaborate with Nigerian stars and bigwig artists in the future.

  • She won the Muse Africa Alternative Song of the 2nd Quarter in 2019.
  • She’s also nominated in the 2022 Headies award as the west African.
