In 1984, Onyema gained admission to the University of Ibadan, where he pursued a degree in law. Three years into his course, he transitioned to the Nigeria Law School, ultimately being called to the bar after one year of study there.

Allen embarked on his professional journey as a lawyer, encountering initial challenges in navigating the field. Despite familial expectations for him to pursue opportunities in the oil and gas sector, particularly with the assistance of his uncle, Capt J. O. Disinclined towards the oil and gas industry, Allen relocated to Lagos, where he faced temporary housing challenges before fate intervened. Serendipitously, he crossed paths with the late Chief Vincent Amobi Nwizugbo, who extended an employment opportunity at his legal firm on the island. Allen’s exceptional performance in a high-profile court case earned him a monthly salary of N500.

While honing his legal skills, Allen gradually delved into the real estate sector, seizing entrepreneurial opportunities alongside his legal career. Eventually, he decided to part ways with Chief Vincent to focus on his burgeoning ventures.

In a pivotal move in 2013, Allen Onyema founded Airpeace Airline, a private flight servicing agency. Driven by unwavering determination, his airline swiftly emerged as a leading player in the Nigerian aviation landscape, offering both domestic and international flights to destinations such as the United Arab Emirates, Ghana, the UK, the USA, Sierra Leone, and China, among others.
