Biography
Thelumusa Samuel Owen (born April 14, 1991) is professionally known by his stage name, Tellaman. He is a famous South African rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer born and raised in Durban, South Africa.
He came into the limelight after he was featured by DJ Speedsta on a song titled ‘Mayo’ which also features Yung Swiss, Frank Casino & Shane Eagle.
Early Life
Tellaman is currently 31 years of age and celebrates his birthday every April 14. He was born and raised in Durban, SA.
He was raised by his parent, who, especially his mom, wanted him to go into music.
His music interest was initiated in him by his mom, who had always wanted him to go into music. He was introduced to music from a younger age, singing at home and in church as a choir member.
At age 15, Tellaman began writing and recording his own songs, teaching and rehearsing in his room.
He was signed up by Soul Candi Records in 2014 after the record boss had listened to his tune.
Career
After He was welcomed into the record label, He was featured in their compilation album titled ‘Soul Candi Sessions 15,’ featuring other artists like MoFlava, Lulo Café, Cuebur, and Hareal Salko.
Out of the 30 songs on the album, he was featured in 12 due to his outstanding performance and talent.
His disc titled “Ntsikelelo” includes a few hit songs featuring Okmalumkoolkat on “Drinks and Music” and Lastee on “Intoxicated.”
The song sales passed gold status, and it was nominated for the best compilation award at the metro FM award, but He didn’t get to win it.
He dropped his first debut EP tagged “Mind vs. Heart” on June 2016.
Again in early 2017, Tellaman released another EP titled “Lucid dream” in February 2017.
In May 2018, He secured a record deal with Universal Music South Africa.
His first official single, “No Sharing,” was released on July 13, 2018, under Universal Music.
After releasing his fourth studio work on February 1, 2019, including some hit singles, he got an international deal with Motow Records and Virgin EMI Records. He also got a contract with Def Jam recordings Africa.
