Adams Olabode Michael (born 2000; Age: 24 years) is a talented Nigerian Nigerian singer and songwriter known professionally as Smada Lee or Supersmada. He gained massive recognition after his self-titled song, “Smada eh,” went viral on social media. He is currently signed to Native Records in partnership with Def Jam Recordings.
Early Life
Smada was born and raised in Lagos by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Michael. He grew up in Lagos, completed his education, and graduated from the University of Lagos.
Smada is the last child among his five siblings, and growing up, he was passionate about instruments, particularly the drums. However, with the advice of his eldest brother, He picked up singing and began nurturing his singing skills.
Career
Smada embarked on his musical journey during high school, stepping into the studio to record and launching his debut EP while still in his youth.
By 2021, Smada unveiled his second EP, “NÜNIVERSE,” which swiftly claimed the number one spot on the iTunes Nigeria charts. Remarkably, all of this unfolded while he continued to pursue his education.
The standout track “Family” from the EP became a breakout hit, propelling Smada into the limelight within the music industry. This success was further amplified when the song received airplay and a co-sign from the influential Don Jazzy.
In 2022, Smada’s popularity soared among the Gen-Z demographic, fueled by the widespread circulation of his music on various social media platforms, particularly TikTok. His single, “Ye Anthem,” garnered immense anticipation and solidified his presence in the social media landscape.
November 29, 2022, marked a pivotal moment in Smada’s career as he secured a record deal with Native Records in collaboration with Def Jam Recordings. Subsequently, in December, he released the official music video for “Ye Anthem” under Native Records, featuring collaborations with King Perryy and Toyé.
The impact of the release was evident as the music debuted at an impressive number 10 on the Nigeria TurnTable Top Alternative/Dancehall Songs chart. In the following year, 2023, Smada’s rising star status was acknowledged when he was recognized as one of the “18 Nigerian Artists To Watch” by The Culture Custodian.
Continuing to build momentum, Smada unveiled his latest single, “Smada eh,” in November 2023, featuring notable artists such as Pocolee, Smeez, and D3an. This release further solidified his position as a promising talent within the Nigerian music scene.
