Olumide Ogunade (born July 29, 1975; Age: 48 years) Is a renowned music producer, singer, songwriter, and entrepreneur from Nigeria known professionally as ID Cabasa. He established Coded Tunes, the record label that was responsible for propelling the career of big Nigerian artists such as Olamide, 9ice, 2Shotz, Reminisce, Lord of Ajasa, Ajayi Brovas, 2Phat, Seriki, and Banky W.

Early Life & Education

ID Cabasa was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria. Growing up under the guidance of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ogunade, he was the third child in a family of four. While details about his family remain private, his musical journey commenced in the late 80s during his formative years at St Finbarr’s College Akoka.

His passion for music developed alongside his academic pursuits. Despite majoring in Economics at Lagos State University, ID Cabasa couldn’t resist the allure of music. During his time there, he began to explore and immerse himself in the world of music production. His academic journey didn’t stop with a bachelor’s degree; he went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Management Economics at the University of Lagos.

Professionally, ID Cabasa underwent a pivotal transformation in 2003, marking a significant shift in his musical career. Post-graduation from Lagos State University, where he briefly ventured into the banking sector, he ultimately chose to commit himself wholeheartedly to music production.

ID Cabasa’s musical journey began in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, Nigeria, where he spent his early years. Even from a young age, his love for music was clear as he explored different instruments and actively participated in the local music scene.

ID Cabasa developed his skills as both a producer and a vocalist as he grew older, creating a unique style that quickly gained recognition in the music industry. The early 2000s were a turning point in his career when he teamed up with the emerging Nigerian artist 9ice. Together, they produced hit tracks like “Gongo Aso” and “Certificate,” catapulting both artists to widespread fame. ID Cabasa became a sought-after figure for artists such as Lord of Ajasa, 2Phat, and Seriki, thanks to his exceptional production talents.

In 2007, ID Cabasa took a significant step by founding Coded Tunes, his record label dedicated to nurturing and supporting emerging talents. Personal Life

Beyond his role as a music producer, ID Cabasa is a diverse individual with a keen business sense and a love for education. He generously shares his musical expertise by serving as a tutor, guiding aspiring talents on their creative journeys.

In the mid-nineties, fate brought him together with his future wife, Sijuade Ogunade, in the congregation of their shared church. Sijuade, a dynamic entrepreneur and singer, caught ID Cabasa’s eye, sparking a friendship that eventually blossomed into a romantic relationship in 1997. Their union blossomed and they gave birth to their daughter, Kanyinsola Ogunade.

Their love story continued to unfold over the next decade, culminating in their marriage in 2007—a testament to their rich history. Recently, ID Cabasa has turned his attention to a pressing concern affecting the youth in Nigeria in an Interview on November 15, 2023.

Expressing his worries on social media, ID Cabasa highlighted the alarming rise in depression and drug addiction among Nigerian youths. His observations underscore the seriousness of the situation, emphasizing the potential risks of an entire generation grappling with these interconnected challenges.

“We are witnessing the emergence of a generation plagued by depression and entangled in drug dependency. Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, we provided support to a prominent artist battling severe depression and drug addiction,” he revealed.

ID Cabasa’s candid remarks shed light on the profound impact of these societal issues, emphasizing the urgent need for collaborative efforts to address the mental health and overall well-being of the younger generation in Nigeria.
