Francis Leblanc (born February 12, 2000) is an up-and-coming American rapper, songwriter, and producer from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, best recognized by his stage name, Fridayy. He gained widespread recognition for his appearances on Lil Baby‘s hit song “Forever” and DJ Khaled‘s track “God Did,” which earned him three Grammy nominations.
Fridayy is signed to Def Jam Recordings, a multinational record label owned by Universal Music Group.
Early Life
The talented rapper, aged 24, was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, into a Christian family, with his father serving as a pastor. As he mentioned on his Twitter account, Fridayy proudly traces his roots to Haiti.
Fridayy started playing musical instruments at six in his local church as a child. From a young age, he began creating music and infusing his unique sound with religious undertones, resulting in a distinctive style that captivated audiences.
Career
Fridayy first made his mark in the entertainment industry in 2014 when he collaborated with his cousin on a track. He later gained recognition when he contributed to Chris Brown’s Breezy project in June 2022.
In October 2022, Fridayy released his debut single, ‘Don’t Give Up on Me,’ and also appeared on Lil Baby’s album, featuring on a track titled ‘Forever.’ The song became a hit and peaked at number 8 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Fridayy‘s highly anticipated debut EP, “Lost in Melody,” dropped in October 2022, featuring a guest appearance from Vory. The project was well-received by both fans and critics.
Shortly after the release of his EP, Fridayy received three Grammy Award nominations in November 2022.
He was recognized as a featured artist on DJ Khaled‘s hit song “God Did” for the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in 2023, solidifying his position as one of the most promising young talents in the music industry.
