Biography 

Mthembeni Ndevu (born September 15, 1992) is a South African rapper professionally known as Emtee. He is a rapper, singer, songwriter, and music producer born in a small town in South Africa called ‘Matatiele’ but grew up in Rockville, Soweto.

He came to the limelight after the release of his successful studio work, Avery, released in 2015.

Early Life

The 30years old South African rapper was born in a small town situated in Matatiele and had his formative years in Rockville, Soweto.

Emtee announced in an interview that growing up, He had always had the ambition of becoming a musician.

He grew up with this ambition and had his first ever performance on stage at the age of 9. This was when he performed on stage for the first time during a talent show at his primary school.

Education 

Emtee attended Yeoville primary school and furthered in one of the secondary schools in his locality.

With a Pass in his Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination, he couldn’t get into a major college in South Africa, so he decided to focus more on his musical career.

Career

He spent his early teenage life practicing and writing songs after he had opted out of school.

In 2010, He collaborated with Maraza, a South African rapper on a song, “In it to Win it.”

He also featured along some other South African artists like rappers SjavaSaudi, and their producer Ruff on a song titled ‘African Trap Movement,’ a rap trio.

Fortunately, they were all signed up by Ambitiouz Entertainment.

Emtee & The Ambitious Records

In 2015, Emtee released his debut solo song, Roll Up. The song received a warm welcome from fans and was massively streamed and airplay. The song blew him to prominence, making him one of the sought South African artist.

He made a re-released of the song ‘Roll Up’ which he titled ‘Roll Up Re-Up’ featuring Wizkid and AKA, a South African rapper.

He released his debut album on December 4, 2015, titled ‘Avery.’ The album became of the top ten most played albums in South Africa.

In 2019, Emtee shocked his fans by tweeting on his page about leaving his Record Label, Ambitiouz Entertainment.

He established his newly created record label, Emtee Records, under Africa Trap Movement shortly after.

After multiple albums and singles were released, Emtee dropped his fourth studio album, Logan, released on August 9, 2021. The album was nominated for the 2021 south African hip-hop awards.

Personal Life

Emtee is engaged to his long-time girlfriend, Nicole Kendall Chinsamy, who is also his baby mama. 

Emtee has previously stated that He would love to make her his wife soon.

Currently, there’s no news about their relationship yet.

He loves tattoos and has several drawings all over his body.

Emtee is a father of two sons named after his debut albums. His first son, Avery, was born in 2015, and Logan was born in 2018.
