Bailly Larinette Tatah  (born March 8, 1995) is a Cameroonian singer, songwriter, and performer born and raised in Kumba in the South West Region of Cameroon. She is known professionally by her stage name, Blanche Bailly.

Bailly is known for her unique style of music that blends Afrobeat, R&B, and hip-hop. She was welcomed into the industry after her debut album, Kam We Stay, gained stardom in the music scene.

She is listed among the world’s top and most prominent African artists.

Early Life & Education 

Blanche Bailly was born into a family of musicians who were also deeply religious. Her father was a skilled guitarist, and her mother, a beautiful and talented singer. 

Bailly was exposed to various types of music from a young age due to her parents’ influence. She began to nurture her talent, and by the time she was a teenager, she had already started writing her songs. Her parent’s love for music further ignited her passion for music.

Blanche Bailly attended Sacred Heart Kumba South-West region for primary school. She later went to Baptist Secondary School-Kang Barombi and Diligent Bilingual College- Kumba for part of her secondary education before her family relocated to France when she was 12. Her stay in France benefitted her, as she became bilingual and expanded her musical knowledge by listening to different styles of music from around the world.

While in France, Blanche Bailly pursued her dream of becoming a stage performer and a recording artist. She continued her studies while honing her musical skills and performing at local events. In 2015, Bailly released her debut single, “Killa,” which became an instant hit in Cameroon and launched her music career. Since then, she has released several successful singles and an album, performed at numerous music festivals, and collaborated with other African musicians.

Career 

Blanche Bailly began her music career while studying in the United Kingdom, where she met a fellow Cameroonian who set her up with her first studio session. She was formerly recognized as Swagger Queen.

She officially launched her music career in 2015 with the release of her debut single, “Killa,” which was produced by Ayo Beats. The single quickly became a sensation in Cameroon and beyond. The song’s catchy beat and infectious lyrics catapulted her to fame, and she soon followed it up with other chart-topping singles like “Mimbayeur,” “Ndolo,” and “Argent.” Her music uniquely blends African and Western influences, making her sound fresh and distinct.

Blanche Bailly‘s journey to musical stardom began when she got in touch with Cameroonian-based music producer Mr Elad. Mr Elad recognized her talent and helped her write her first official single, “Kam we stay,” released in 2016. The song showcased her vocal abilities and was produced by Cameroonian-based producer Philbillbeatz, who added his signature beats to the track.

Kam we stay” was an instant hit and solidified Blanche Bailly‘s position as a rising star in the Cameroonian music industry. The song’s catchy melody and relatable lyrics endeared her to fans, and it became one of the most-played songs on Cameroonian radio and television.

In 2017, Blanche Bailly made a triumphant return to her hometown by releasing her album, “Mimbayeur,” a collaborative effort with Philbill Beatz featuring the talented rapper Minks. The album was a unique blend of various genres, ranging from Afrobeats to Pop, and effectively showcased Bailly’s impressive vocal range and exceptional songwriting abilities.

Mimbayeur” also featured exciting collaborations with other notable African artists like Daphne and rapper Cleo Grae, adding to its already impressive track record. The album was widely praised by both critics and fans for its innovative sound and quality production, cementing Bailly‘s reputation as a rising star in the African music industry.

Blanche Bailly collaborated with the famous Nigerian artist, Joeboy, to release “MINE,” a single released in early 2023. The song, which features a fusion of Afro-pop and R&B elements, highlights both artists’ vocal prowess and songwriting skills. “MINE” has received positive reviews from fans and music critics alike, and its catchy beats and relatable lyrics have helped it to become a hit among music lovers.

Over the years, Blanche Bailly has performed at various music festivals across Africa and Europe, including the Douala Hip-Hop Festival, FIAFA, and the AFRIMMA Awards. Her electrifying stage performances and stage presence have earned her a loyal fan base that cuts across different age groups.

Blanche Bailly has released several hit singles since her debut, including “Bonbon,” “Dinguo,” and “Ton Pied, Mon Pied.” Her most recent release, “Mes Respects,” dropped in February 2022 and has already amassed over 1 million views on YouTube, a testament to her growing influence in the African music industry.
