Chinsea Lee (born October 1, 1996) is a Jamaican rapper and dancehall artist best known as Shenseea. She gained notoriety after featuring with some prominent acts in the music industry, like Vybz Kartel, Sean Paul, and Christina Aguilera. In 2019, she signed with Interscope Records and released the song “Blessed” with Tyga and was featured on Kanye West‘s album “Donda” on the songs “Pure Souls” and “Ok Ok Pt 2” in 2021. 

Early life

Shenseea was born on October 1, 1996, in the parish of St. Mary, Jamaica. Her mother is of Afro-Jamaican descent, while her father is of Korean origin. However, Shenseea has revealed that she is no longer in contact with her father and was raised by her mother alone.

Growing up, Shenseea was musically inclined and often sang and performed for her family and friends. She attended the Papine High School in Kingston, Jamaica, where she excelled in sports and academics.

After completing high school, Shenseea enrolled in the University of West Indies, pursuing a degree in Entertainment Management. However, she dropped out of university to focus on her music career, which was starting to gain traction.

Shenseea‘s big break came in 2016 when she was discovered by famous Jamaican producer Romeich Major, who signed her to his label. Since then, she has become one of the hottest young artists in Jamaica, known for her catchy dancehall and reggae-infused tracks, as well as her high-energy performances.


Shenseea’s journey to success began with her signing to the music label Rockstar, which Lemuel Samuel owns. After years of aspiring to be an artist, she caught her big break when she remixed Vybz Kartel‘s hit song “Loodi” and performed at Reggae Sumfest in 2015. The remix became a viral sensation, and Shenseea quickly rose to fame in the Jamaican music scene.

In recognition of her talent, Shenseea was awarded Collaboration of the Year for “Loodi” and Young Hot and Hype Artiste at the Youth View Awards. She continued to make a name for herself by showcasing her skills as a rapper and collaborating with other prominent artists, including Sean Paul and Christina Aguilera.

In 2019, Shenseea signed with Interscope Records and released her hip-hop/dancehall track “Blessed,” featuring Tyga. The song quickly gained popularity and showcased Shenseea’s versatility as an artist. She continued to expand her horizons, collaborating with Kanye West on his album “Donda” in 2021. This collaboration earned her a nomination for Album of the Year at the 2022 Grammy Awards, and she also won Best Reggae Act at the MOBO Awards.

Shenseea’s debut album, “Alpha,” was released in March 2022 and included the hit song “Lick,” featuring Megan Thee Stallion. The album showcases Shenseea’s unique style and collaborates with other well-known artists in the industry. With her talent and dedication, Shenseea has become a rising star in the music industry and continues to capture the hearts of fans around the world. 

Personal Life

In 2015, at 19, Shenseea became a mother when she gave birth to her son, Rajeiro Lee. This was before she launched her successful music career; motherhood has been an essential part of her life ever since. 

In 2020, at the age of 4, Rajeiro signed a contract with Babybop Kids Store, suggesting he may be starting a career in the entertainment industry.

Shenseea has been romantically linked to several well-known figures in the music industry, including 21 Savage in 2019, Rvssian in 2019, Romeich from 2017 to 2018, and London on da Track.
There have also been rumors about her dating Leon Bailey in 2019.

According to some sources, Romeich Major, Shenseea’s longtime friend and manager has played a significant role in her life, particularly as a father figure to her son Rajeiro Lee. Major has been a supportive figure in Shenseea’s life, personally and professionally, and has been instrumental in helping her achieve success in the music industry.

Sadly, Shenseea’s mother, Castilyn Eleanor Williams passed away in June 2020. It was a difficult time for the artist, who spoke about her mother’s profound impact on her life and career. Despite this loss, Shenseea has continued pursuing her passion for music and has inspired many.
